If you have got yourself the Google Nexus 5, the next thing you should do after setting up the device is probably to root it – at least that’s for me. This will make the Nexus 5 more interesting as you will be able to experiment other custom ROMs as well as fool along with other root-only apps on the device. However before we begin, I would like to warn you that during the process of rooting, there is a risk of bricking your own device. So if you still want to proceed, you’ll be doing it at your own risk and we will hold no responsible for any form of damage on your device. Its a good practice for you to backup your device to an external source apart from your own SD Card.
Follow the steps below on how to root the Google Nexus 5 :
- Make sure that you have installed the device’s driver on your PC.
- Make sure you have enabled USB debugging on the Nexus 5.
- Download the CF Auto Root and extract it to your desktop.
- Turn off the device.
- Turn on the device by pressing the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons together for a moment.
- Connect the Nexus 5 to your PC using a USB cable.
- Run the root-windows.bat by double-clicking on it.
- Follow any on screen instructions and wait a moment for it to root.
- Congratulation! You’ve just rooted the Google Nexus 5.
